Tweak Internet Speed

Tweak Internet Speed by Tuning Up Default Network Bandwith Limit Windows XP

Tweak internet speed
bandwith limit win xpYour internet speed is slow, want to tweak internet speed BUT your operating system is Windows XP Professional. By default, the Packet Scheduler of Windows XP Pro limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default. That packet is QoS ( Quality of service) for Windows XP. This packet may not be often used, so Why don’t we change the setting to tweak internet speed.
Determines the percentage of connection bandwidth that the system can reserve. This value limits the combined bandwidth reservations of all programs running on the system. If you enable the setting, you can use the “Bandwidth limit” box to adjust the amount of bandwidth the system can reserve. If you disable this setting or do not configure it, the system uses the default value of 20 percent of the connection.
But If a bandwidth limit is set for a particular network adapter in the registry, this setting is ignored when configuring that network adapter.
Here step by step to TUNE UP your bandwith limit in Windows XP > Group policy :
1. Go to “RUN” and type : gpedit.msc
tweak internet speed - gpedit.msc
2. Administrative Templates > Network > QoS Packet Scheduler
tweak internet speed - QoS packet
3. Double Click > “Limit Reservable Bandwith”
4. Limit Reservable Bandwith > Enabled , Bandwith limit 20% change to > 0%
tweak internet speed - change bandwith limit
5. click OK, and Restart your connection.

How to increase WiFi signal strength

3, Update your wireless network adapter driver. This also helps boost your WIFI signal strength. Be sure to back up first.

4, Buy or make a better antenna for your wireless router. Usually the omni-directional antenna that comes with the wireless router does poorly in transmitting signal to a broader location, so you can always buy or make your own antenna.

5, Buy a wireless signal repeater. A repeater will extend your WIFI signal coverage tremendously. However this requires spending extra money, but if you do not mind, it really helps a lot.

6, Upgrade to Wireless N. If you were to set up your WIFI network, you can consider using 802.11n devices. Wireless N uses multiple-in-multiple-out (MIMO), a smart antenna technology, and other improvements that make for much larger coverage areas and faster connections. To get full improvement, you also need to use both Wireless N for the router and the wireless adapters.

WiFi hack and WEP key Hack

winaircrack

If you have a WiFi enabled device like a mobile phone or a laptop, you may have found that open wireless networks which grant access to all rarely exist. And if you are developing a WiFi network, pay attention to choose WPA key encryption, for someone may be able to hack a WEP Key encrypted wireless network and gain your WEP key, hence gain access to your wireless network.

How to hack a WEP key encrypted WiFi network

In order to get the WEP key, you need two programs: Ariodump (airodump) and WinAirCrack.
First, configure Ariodump. Run Ariodump, it will show all WNIC you have on you laptop and ask you to enter the WNIC interface index number, choose BUFFALO WNIC, that is, to enter 26. Then choose the type of WNIC chip, as HermesI/Realtek is the most popular, select ‘o’ (depending on your WNIC chip). Then choose the channel number of the AP, we here select 6 (it can be set to a single channel from 1 to 14 or set it to 0 to hop among all channels). Then enter the name and path of the resulting file (.txt, .cap). When the application ask if only write WEP IVs, choose no.
airodump v2.3
Secondly, when all has been set, Ariodump starts to capture encrypted traffic, after a sufficient number of packets have been collected (300,000), you can stop it. And you will find the cap and txt file in the WinAirCrack folder.
Third, run WinAirCrack, press the button that has a file ico and select the cap file. Then click on the WEP tab, choose 64 for the Key size as most user choose this length of WEP key. Finally click on aircrack button and it starts to work, when it finishes a CMD window prompts and displays KEY FOUND followed by the WEP key.
Please note Ariodump may take a long time to capture 300,000 packets of wireless data, it depends on the the amount of data being transferred and if you have set the right mode for your WNIC and target network (802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n), be aware they are using the same mode.
Once you get the WEP key, now you may gain free access to the Wi-Fi network and Internet.

You can always download them and other related apps at East Mobiles Connection, just click on winaircrackpack.zip

Hacking Windows XP: Speed Up Your Network and Internet Access

Increasing network browsing speed

Does your computer slow down when you browse your local area network and connect to other computers that are sharing data? One of the most common causes of this slowdown is a feature of Windows Explorer that looks for scheduled tasks on remote computers. This effort can take some time on some computers and can really slow down your browsing. The window with which you are browsing the network may appear to freeze momentarily, as the system is waiting for a response from the remote computer. Although this problem is a complex one, the solution is very simple. Instead of having to wait for the remote scheduled tasks, which is useless information to anyone who is not a system administrator remotely configuring scheduled tasks, you can disable this feature.
In order to do this, you will have to hack the System Registry and delete a reference to a key so that this feature will not be loaded. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Open up the Registry Editor by clicking the Start Menu and selecting Run. Then type regedit in the text box and click the OK button.
  2. Once the Registry Editor has loaded, expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE key.
  3. Next, expand Software and then Microsoft.
  4. Locate Windows and expand that as well.
  5. You will want to be editing the main system files, so expand CurrentVersion.
  6. Because this feature is a feature of the Windows component known as Explorer, expand the Explorer key.
  7. Next, you will want to modify the remote computer settings, so expand the RemoteComputer key and then expand the NameSpace key to show all of the features that are enabled when you browse to a remote computer.
  8. In the NameSpace folder you will find two entries. One is "{2227A280-3AEA-1069-A2DE-08002B30309D}" which tells Explorer to show printers shared on the remote machine. The other, "{D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF}," tells Explorer to show remote scheduled tasks. This is the one that you should delete. This can be done by right-clicking the name of the key and selecting Delete.
Tip:
If you have no use for viewing remote shared printers and are really only interested in shared files, consider deleting the printers key, "{2227A280-3AEA-1069-A2DE-08002B30309D}", as well. This will also boost your browsing speed.

Once you have deleted the key, you just need to restart and the changes will be in effect. Now your network computer browsing will be without needless delays.

10 Simple Ways To Speed Up Windows XP

I've just finished setting up a new PC for a friend and I think some of you will be interested in some of the tweaks I make to all of my PCs to make them just a little bit quicker. I've focused here on the ones which are simple to do and won't cause problems if you get it wrong, rather than listing registry tweaks etc.
1. Disable Indexing Services
Indexing Services is a small little program that uses large amounts of RAM and can often make a computer endlessly loud and noisy. This system process indexes and updates lists of all the files that are on your computer. It does this so that when you do a search for something on your computer, it will search faster by scanning the index lists. If you don't search your computer often, or even if you do search often, this system service is completely unnecessary. To disable do the following:
1. Go to Start
2. Click Settings
3. Click Control Panel
4. Double-click Add/Remove Programs
5. Click the Add/Remove Window Components
6. Uncheck the Indexing services
7. Click Next
2. Optimise Display Settings
Windows XP can look sexy but displaying all the visual items can waste system resources. To optimise:
1.Go to Start
2. Click Settings
3. Click Control Panel
4. Click System
5. Click Advanced tab
6. In the Performance tab click Settings
7. Leave only the following ticked:
- Show shadows under menus
- Show shadows under mouse pointer
- Show translucent selection rectangle
- Use drop shadows for icons labels on the desktop
- Use visual styles on windows and buttons
3. Disable Performance Counters
Windows XP has a performance monitor utility which monitors several areas of your PC's performance. These utilities take up system resources so disabling is a good idea.
To disable:
1. download and install the Extensible Performance Counter List http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/techinfo/reskit/tools/existing/exctrlst-o.asp
2.Then select each counter in turn in the 'Extensible performance counters' window and clear the 'performance counters enabled' checkbox at the bottom.button below.
4. Speedup Folder Browsing
You may have noticed that everytime you open my computer to browse folders that there is a slight delay. This is because Windows XP automatically searches for network files and printers everytime you open Windows Explorer. To fix this and to increase browsing significantly:
1. Open My Computer
2. Click on Tools menu
3. Click on Folder Options
4. Click on the View tab.
5. Uncheck the Automatically search for network folders and printers check box
6. Click Apply
7. Click Ok
8. Reboot your computer
5. Improve Memory Usage
Cacheman http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Cacheman/982371189/1 Improves the performance of your computer by optimizing the disk cache, memory and a number of other settings.
Once Installed:
1. Go to Show Wizard and select All
2. Run all the wizards by selecting Next or Finished until you are back to the main menu. Use the defaults unless you know exactly what you are doing.
3.Exit and Save Cacheman
4.Restart Windows
6. Optimise your internet connection
There are lots of ways to do this but by far the easiest is to run TCP/IP Optimizer. http://www.speedguide.net/files/TCPOptimizer.exe
1. Download and install
2. Click the General Settings tab and select your Connection Speed (Kbps)
3. Click Network Adapter and choose the interface you use to connect to the Internet
4. Check Optimal Settings then Apply
5. Reboot
7. Optimise Your Pagefile
If you give your pagefile a fixed size it saves the operating system from needing to resize the page file.
1. Right click on My Computer and select Properties
2. Select the Advanced tab
3. Under Performance choose the Settings button
4. Select the Advanced tab again and under Virtual Memory select Change
5. Highlight the drive containing your page file and make the initial Size of the file the same as the Maximum Size of the file.
Windows XP sizes the page file to about 1.5X the amount of actual physical memory by default. While this is good for systems with smaller amounts of memory (under 512MB) it is unlikely that a typical XP desktop system will ever need 1.5 X 512MB or more of virtual memory. If you have less than 512MB of memory, leave the page file at its default size. If you have 512MB or more, change the ratio to 1:1 page file size to physical memory size.
8. Run BootVis - Improve Boot Times
BootVis will significantly improve boot times
1. Download and Run http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=664
2. Select Trace
3. Select Next Boot and Driver Trace
4. A Trace Repetitions screen will appear, select Ok and Reboot
5. Upon reboot, BootVis will automatically start, analyze and log your system's boot process. When it's done, in the menu go to Trace and select Optimize System
6. Reboot.
7. When your machine has rebooted wait until you see the Optimizing System box appear. Be patient and wait for the process to complete
9. Remove the Desktop Picture
Your desktop background consumes a fair amount of memory and can slow the loading time of your system. Removing it will improve performance.
1. Right click on Desktop and select Properties
2. Select the Desktop tab
3. In the Background window select None
4. Click Ok
10. Remove Fonts for Speed
Fonts, especially TrueType fonts, use quite a bit of system resources. For optimal performance, trim your fonts down to just those that you need to use on a daily basis and fonts that applications may require.
1. Open Control Panel
2. Open Fonts folder
3. Move fonts you don't need to a temporary directory (e.g. C:FONTBKUP?) just in case you need or want to bring a few of them back. The more fonts you uninstall, the more system resources you will gain.
